band

band rocks. really.
was watching chingay on tv on saturday, saw the band performing, and duh was reminded of us 1 year ago doing our stuff along orchard road. yeaaaaa everytime i see my chingay shirt(s) i'm reminded of chingay06. the tough work. the retarded red tube. the lousy blue fan. the stinking berets. and of course, my sucky piccolo. :D:D:D i rmb the tiring rehersals and pracs, the endless work and labour we had to do, toiling under the sun from 9-1 every saturday. and suddenly, i think i miss it all. the 3 performances, the marching along orchard road, not being able to awve back at people/the cameraman, the relief when we finished the parade, the "during chingay when i look into your eyes i don't want to see you thinking of going to KAP to celebrate when we've finished" from jonathan, the slacking and screwing at kap, antoginising the manager and staff. and the look of runainai's face when he kena asthma attack while marching.
and then there was syf06. outdoors. remembering how the school utterly refused to give us their support to take part in display. remembering how we still worked hard for the assesment section. remembering how we pwned the other nooblar bands. actually we thrashed them hands down lar. but nvm. again, the pracs from 9-1 every saturdays. and afternoon pracs almost everyday. suffering under the sun. argh. the spinning of instruments, the dance moves, the guai lan shuas. do, re-do and re-do and re-do until the timing was all precise and perfect, the moves slick and jerked. and again the post-syf celebrations @ kap again. wreaking havoc until early mornings. chionging together to get the last bus. or taxi.
and the failed overseas trips. south korea, america, beijing, all failed to materialise. cause mainly the school refused to give us their support and let us skip a few days of school. awww shucks.
band isn't all about band pracs though. eating dinner with bandits @ kap/btp/btm/coro. pizza parties at koon weng's house. church hopping with rujun ernest darrell junjie. new year celebrations @ marina bay. birthday parties. stayovers. christmas carolling. and of course the usual stuff. outings movies bowling pool bball soccer etc etc.
seems like such a long time since i left the high school "boy band". really really much much different from jc side. cause jc side has girls. and girls are awfully sensitive. its not as fun though. i think i miss high school bandits. of course i also miss lim lip hua la. -.-
its tough remembering. i miss it all. cause high school days seem much more slack and relaxed, much more carefree. although it's not suppposed to be like that. i didn't have so much to worry about in high school side, despite my academic short-comings. i enjoyed going for band more than i enjoy going for band now. i dno why. its just LIKE THAT. full stop.
some reasons why you should join band:
1. cause band has really really great band members

4. cause bandits are all passionate about music, and its contagious

6. cause band moulds you to become a more precise person and a perfectionist
7. cause one should always be involved in music
8. cause you get a sense of achievement when you perfect your pieces
9. cause the exhilaration you get when you finish performing concerts cannot be found elsewhere
10. cause music makes the world go round
11. cause derence leng is not a metronome
12. cause derence leng is not lim lip hua
13. cause we have the most entertaining conductor in the world
14. cause we also have the most guai lan conductor on earth
15. cause bandits all work towards the same common goal

17. cause bandits can always become full time musicians should their career options really suck

20. cause there's always the storage room to hide in should you need to pon lessons
