ok first disclaimer.
i'm not sure how it works.
i just get a rough idea of what's happening.
yup so if i'm wrong just explain to me.
if i agree i'll remove this post or edit it.
just a point to ponder.
today the junior class blog threw up sth like this:
Note of Confirmation:
We'll be selling fruit and juice and it will not be banned by council.
word given by sb from council.
shall not say who haha.
which really makes me wonder.
so what if they sell the same stuff.
yes there'll be a dearth of choices of stuff on sale
but still, why can't the council change the stuff its selling
instead of the classes being banned from selling their item.
or forfeit their $15 deposit if they really want to sell.
isn't council supposed to serve the school population?
barring them from selling stuff just cause council wants to sell the same item
certainly isn't serving the school population.
its like akin to a school bully.
big boy mashes up small boy just cause small boy has same toy as him.
its just not fair isn't it.
and is council really that great?
no its not.
its just grossly overated.
council is just. saigang gang.
not saying that people can't enjoy doing saigang
people like mr soon loves council,
but council isn't really that great.
ok at this point of time
i must state a fact.
council is doing quite a great job.
they certainly liven up the school and stuff.
but still,
it doesn't warrant them the power
to have an edge over others in this sense.
not just this time but i think twice before last year
also heard of the same things going on.
why must it always be everybody else except council that have to give way.
council isn't as great as others think.
it certainly isn't an elite group.
its just a bunch of people who at that moment of time last year
think that they can actually be happy being slaves for the school.
and so they run.
furthurmore, councillors aren't picked based on their capabilities.
they get picked through student votes.
yup and a popularity contest ensues.
no kidding.
it might be the same throughout singapore,
but i think its screwed.
council is just another cca.
much like OAC infact.
actually OAC serves the student population more than council.
OAC organises outdoor activities for the students to do.
council does work for the school, like decorating the school.
yet you don't see OAC going around throwing its weight around.
council should just act like any other cca.
its not special at all.
i repeat my statement.
council is grossly overated.
if they really think that they're that good,
they shouldn't ban the ct from selling stuff.
they should like give them some warning first
that they shouldn't sell the same stuff or run the risk of getting pwned by council.
if they're that confident.
they shouldn't have banned anyone from doing what they want.
which again brings another point.
what males councillors think that they have the best ideas around?
what if someone has roughly the same idea, just with the special something else.
ban them from selling their stuff
and council deprives the school population of a superior good.
instead being selfish and pushing for their inferior wares.
bring the case of min jun from 08S60.
yup i've publicised the photo alrdy.
this guy doesn't look like he'd join council or fac comm or anything.
yet he designed the class tablecloth
so much so that it'd easily thrash any other fac flag if properly done.
an ambigram would be rather cool as a fac flag.
ah anw point is that,
i don't think council is doing the right thing
by threatening to barr 08S60 from selling fruit juice
just cause they're selling fruit juice too.
there shouldn't be a monopoly.
didn't they learn econs?
students know what's best for them.
they don't need councillors to choose for them.
because cider is the elixir of life
