hai its 10.20pm already.
by which i should have finished my carbonyl tutorial
and gotten ready for sleep
so that i won't sleep during chem lecture tmr.
mmm but leng said during the last prac
that the scherzando concert was good
and then i was listening to our recordings
and that brought back many many many memories
so of course cannot study la.
i rmb band during the 2006 dec hols
were one of the most enjoyable periods of life since sec school.
probably cause there wasn't any homework to be done
or stuff to be mugged or what
no pressure no stress
just play play play.
mmm and also maybe cause everyone just joined jc band
then all noob together
no more cliques or outcasts.
just one whole bunch of nooblets together.
for once, the saxas joined the horns,
flutes joined the clarinets,
percs FINALLY joined the rest of us (at least one did. i think)
we all were just a happy bunch of newbies.
all the way until the point
where we all officially joined band.
oh no then people start to get serious
and then no more play.
the last few moments when we still had our carefree and happy lives.
mm of course the preperation for scherzando
wasn't the main highlight for the holidays.
mm i rmb there was the band camp @ downtown east.
nothing much other than the fact that
back then, it didn't seem like much,
but now, an all boys environment seemed much more enjoyable.
many stuff that we did then
we can't do now.
like uhhh traditional ice cold water fights
dousing of whichever conductor happened to be there
bonding.
mm and so on.
when mr lim was STILL with the band
we didn't have to mind our language
or our actions.
sean could swear whenever he wanted to
rujun farted and burped all over the place.
nobody cared.
when rujun could still eat like a true blue chinaman.
when we were one big happy boy band.
hai and also.
now with girls
come the great differences.
people start to develop interests.
and drift away.
so our group also become smaller and smaller.
back then in high school
everyone was available for everything.
just give them a call and they'd be there.
yea back then band chalets were so packed.
sheng heng had to sleep in front of the fridge on the floor.

when sheng heng was more active than me.
in between there were also our many outings
often with auntie durai in tow.
just cause she was bored and with too much money.
yea most of the time it was like 10 guys and one auntie.
and over some time we grew to accept her as one of our kind.
mm and then after that there was our christmas parties
at darrell's house and the subsequent stayovers
and the making of the now-infamous ernest video.
and the church hopping together with rujun darrell ernest junjie.
after that came scherzando which was actually
okay only la.
cause used to it liao la so many performances
nothing new la.
other than the fact that it was a much better conductor.
and a much better band.
when all we were thinking of was KAP after the concert.
then we also went for new year's day countdown at esplanade there
where we totally got stuck in the human jam.
so much so that we didn't even know when it was 2007 liao.
no one knew actually i think.
we just see fireworks then we okay loh.

orienatation period was good too.
often me rujun sean and probably weeliang
would pon talks and song and dance and cheer sessions
to go band room to hide and sleep or play cards
sometimes run out of school to eat or sth
and it was fun really
to see your ex-leaders whom you were supposed to model after
try to break as many school rules as possible
and kao bei some teacher once in a while.
that was before we were properly involved in band.
still our honeymoon period.
when khee xuan was still with the band.
speaking of which.
i do miss him often.
when someone who's super involved in band suddenly drops out
you feel the void left behind.
yup miss the times where he'd niao rujun
or bitch abt some guy (often jeffrey)
or try to sing higher than a flute.
he was a bag of laughs
and a really great friend to be with.
a bubbly character full of life and zest.
i don't know what happened that made him drop band.
hai really.
all i know is
i really miss him.
i don't think he'd come back
but it'd be nice if he did.

hai. those were probably the best band days.
from then on, it went downhill i think.

cause we slowly get involved in more stuff.
and we drift apart.
