dear god,

2009 has come to a close,
coming and going in a flash.
and i really must say that
this year has been interesting to say the least.
for it is much different from the other 18 years
of my short (as yet) but joyous life.
2009 has introduced me to non-working life.
and for that (and more),
i would really like to thank you wholeheartedly.

for frisbee,
for the once beloved j1 juniors,
for introducing me to the concept of coaching
(albeit a minor part only)
and allowing me the pleasure of seeing them grow
from cute total newbies to uncute decent players,
into full-fledged "hcute" members.
yes jonny i hear you. D:
and at the same time,
extending our stay at hc ultimate
by yet another year.



for summer league,
letting us j3 seniors play with the j2s
allowing us to learn from them,
and from our far-experienced opponents.
and more importantly,
for something to look forward to
every week of the AISL course.



for winter league,
for letting us have the opportunity
to play with these far-experienced players
to learn from them,
and to get scolded a lot by them in the process.
and for letting us expand our tiny social circle
within the frisbee circle.



and for the random small comps this year
(i.e. ivp, ghs, rj project zzz)
for letting us keep in touch with frisbee,
and for letting us keep in touch with one another
for those who have graduated.




god i also wanna thank you for hc band 07/08,
for giving me the best friends i could ever ask for.
for the company of the group of us
10 or so ppl week in week out.
sheng heng meijun chungyan cheryl weely
ernest junjie rujun sean weiguo andrea.
for obliging whenever i drag all of them out
to pei me during weekends when i'm bored. (:



and for keeping us together.
be it from sec one for most of us


or j1 for the rest of them,


i'm really thankful that you've let us stick together
after these 7 years of schooling and stress.
despite the girls having to go to uni
and the guys having to serve ns in different conditions,
its only by your grace that we've managed to come so far
together.



and of course, for the memories that will last forever.
like the late nights spent looking for alcohol,
the many many nights spent over at my place,
the many new year celebrations that we join in,
and so on.
all these memories are the ones
that ultimately matter after all is gone.
and for all these, i thank you really (:



for my family,
for being there for me throughout my troubles,
never failing to cheer me up when in need.



and for me parents,
giving me my freedom,
and totally treating me like an adult.
even though i must admit,
i don't deserve to be treated as one.



for this thing we call national service.
for the much needed break from studies D:
and for letting me get to know people
from all walks of life.



and for meeting true buddies.
who'd never go off and let me fend for myself.



and more importantly,
i really thank you for the money.
i really don't feel that i deserve $900 a month.
not that i'm complaining,
but i do feel guilty sometimes,
when i see that people are working harder than me,
yet receiving lower rewards from the organisation.
and this is only down to the luck you bestowed on me.
and i'm grateful for that. (:



god i also thank you for NS,
because it allows me to really appreciate the little things
that we all take for granted in the past,
like the freedom which is our perogative,
but which the army freely takes away,
like walking around in civilian clothes,
without having to wonder when the next book in timing is,
without worrying about the next thing to do.
or appreciate sleeping in an air-con room,
or looking at girls walk down the street.
NS deprives us of all our priviledges,
allowing us to enjoy what we have more.
you can't enjoy if you don't suffer first.
and god i thank you for giving us just that chance.



for armour infantry,
for being able to do sth that i'll NEVER be able to do
outside in the civilian world.
and because it really is less physically tough
and less brainless compared to ASLC.



for the friends that i made over here,
for going through my sian 5 months of course with me,
and for encouraging me to never ooc,
despite my valient attempts to do so la.



and not forgetting the scenic training grounds,
the exercises atop mountains armour has to offer.
it really is one of the few things
i'd never experience if i weren't in armour.
and i am thankful for being where i am at the moment.



for being lucky throughout my ns life,
for letting me be one of the 4/64 in polaris
who didn't have to do guard duty,
and for letting me get away with whatever rules i have broken
without which i'd probably have gotten sent to DB.

for letting me be one for the 2/64 to get attached
back to ATI as a gunnery instructor,
allowing me to learn more abt the weapons
before going back to hq to lead.

and for letting me be the one sent to hq,
while the other attached personnel got sent to support.
really. tell me which part of my ns isn't lucky?!

for mr eddie foo,
the nicest dxo you can ever meet.
despite us being attached only,
he still treats us like his own,
and gives us off as freely as possible
(i owe him 4 days off)
and for doing his utmost to keep us in gtw.



and for letting me grow,
so that i have a different perspective of life,
with more responsibilities thrust upon me (i guess).
okay at least now i know that studies is important
to a certain extent.
though i know i still can't get myself to do it,
but that's another matter altogether (:




hopefully god you continue to bestow your blessings
and good favour upon me and my friends,
so that 2010 will be an equally,
if not better, year for all of us.

christmas party at my auntie's house was awesome hahhaa.
turkey beef pork knuckles chicken pie donuts salad
cocktail brownies ham prawn balls shepard's pie fruits
ice cream baileys chicken and yea you get the point.
haahaa the food was so so so so so good haha :D
kept eating and eating, but thankfully
i didn't feel bloated after eating
so i ate more and more and more hahhaha :D

yup just lazed around and nua-ed after that
cause i dunno didn't feel like moving la.
eat too much liao v sluggish heh (:
so just played monopoly and card games
like slapjack and goldfish and uhh i can't rmb
and xbox and com and stuff.

until like sometime past midnight.
the cousins stayed over,
so there were like 13 ppl or so crammed into the room.
then went out to some indian prata shop
(don't knw, its ALWAYS the prata shops that are open 24/7)
to uhh drink milo haha.
drank and talked rubbish as usual
for like maybe an hour or so,
while again i was trying hard not to fall asleep. D:



then uhh walked around the neighbourhood
doing nothing in particular.
just walking off the food i guess hahaha.
then RTU at abt 2plus i think.

hhahaha initially supposed to watch some horror movie.
but then uhh the girls didn't want
and we had young kids in the room anw.
so yea we ended up watching a more family-oriented show
uhh spongebob squarepants D:
watched before liao,
so (as usual) spent the whole movie
trying to keep awake.
i don't know for what either actually.
hahaa my whole christmas is like
spent trying to keep awake la.
sounds really piggish BUT ITS REALLY NOT OKAY.
I REALLY HAD QUITE LITTLE SLEEP LOH D:
by my standards la heh.

ya anw movie end liao.
then got settled down to sleep.
then uhh i dunno started telling ghost stories.
which sounded really funny hahahha.
so we ended up laughing a lot instead,
and we all couldn't sleep. :D

ended up sleeping at like 5plus or sth.

today woke up at like 9 i think.
ahah actually woke up earlier one loh.
like 7plus i think.
but aiya everyone still sleeping.
might as well go back to sleep :D
then uhh breakfast was leftovers from ytd
then went to lag somemore upstairs.
supposed to go play soccer after that,
but it started raining heavily
so uhhh no go lo bahhh ahha
stayed back home instead to like nua around again.
hahaa aiyah nothing better to do la (:

then my auntie sent us home at 2plus
and i like just crashed at home and slept
like some pig can hahaha till i dunno 6plus i think.
not my fault la, 11hours in 3 days
is really too little for me hahaha.
actually i was talking to christine
abt sixoh outing sometime this week,
over lan with the band ppl,
then i uhh forgot while getting killed at L4D2
so uhh sixoh outing didn't materialise
and nothing happened loh hahahha opps.
new year's maybe.

so there ends my christmas.
my favourite time of the year.
band, frisbee, family.
its the time where everyone
pushes aside their problems
to love one another
and to just eat drink and be merry.

its no doubt with a tinge of sadness
that i book back in to camp tmr.
because there's nothing else better
to look forward to this year.
but i guess it doesn't really matter,
because christmas 2010 will definitely be better.
i'll be counting down the days till then (:

yea shortly after the last
of the frisbee ppl left my home,
went out to meet the band ppl haha.
for some random band christmas outing.
with really last min planning hahaha.

met up with weely cheryl shengheng mj and rujun.
while sean came later after sean's church,
and junjie came uhh after his family stuff.
weiguo couldn't make it cause of his uhh
family stuff or what la haha i don't know (:

yea anw ate at manhatten at clarke quay there.
which had a special christmas menu
with. like. 3. choices. what. the. hell.
each person at least $24.90.
what. a. christmas. scam. la.
its either some mahi mahi fillet
(the waitress didn't know whhat that was either)
or some salmon in hohoho sauce
(we really didn't know how to ask the waitress)
or the platter for 2 with normal stuff
like calamari and lobster and rice and mushrooms.
so of course we ordered the platter la.
and one set of the salmon in hohoho sauce.
decided to just like share zi char style :D

yeaaa anw its really not that bad la.
ate until really can die can
like super super full la.
after dinner just like.
went to walk around clarke quay
mingle around with the random ppl
the ang mohs and indians and restless ppl.
until meijun complained that she couldn't walk anymore.
so she insisted we went somewhere to sit down.
and being christmas eve,
the only place with space was coffee club.
so yea. lagged there and occupied space
for like a few hours.
while meijun entertained us
by showing us the cellulite on her arms.

yup anw sat till got more ppl come
then we paiseh waste their space
so we went off to walk somemore haha.
walk walk walk then uh i had to go for midnight mass lo.
initially supposed to go sean's mass one.
but he paiseh we hear him play his horn la.
and he said it was boring.
so asked us not to go then okay lo.
so i had to go back my church there.
yeaaa if sean's church is boring
mine is like. watching paint dry.
but anw. christmas mass is nice la
cause a lot of ppl and everyone's like
happy and stuff so yea not that bad (:
still. i was fighting to keep awake la.
after sleeping like 3 hours the night before.
i had to send christmas smses to everyone i know
to prevent myself from falling asleep can hahaha.
quite paiseh la sms during service.
but better than sleeping i guess. :\

yup anw church ended at abt 1.30am
then went back to join the rest at my house there.

meijun had to go home first.
ya washed up then uhh talked a lot of rubbish,
play around a bit,
then uhh i fell asleep at like 4plus 5 like that.
really really sleepy la hahaha.

woke up at 9plus.
then uhh went to have breakfast
at old airport road there.
zi char style again,
hokkien mee, carrot cake and the oyster thingy.
ya then uhh randomly decided to go play lan
since nobody had anything else to do anw.
so yea bus-ed down to parkway there.
to play lan in a dark and cold room
on a bright and sunny christmas day.
left 4 dead 2 was okayyy hahah i just like died can.
totally noob and dunno how to play
then keep dying and stuff haha
but okay la roughly get the hang of it la.
just anyhow whack jiu shi le. :D

yup played till like 3pm
then i had to go back
cause got family christmas party
at my auntie's house there.
supposed to start at 5pm la.

okay so The Great Christmas Party
was held at my place there,
wednesday 23rd december 2009, 1600hrs.
shucks haha had to move heaven and earth
to ask my encik for yet ANOTHER half day off.
sigh i feel so bad but whatever la haha,
enjoy first, worry later. (:

met them all at paya lebar mrt there
and as usual like 90% of them were late.
including me hahaha but its okay :D
i left home at like 4.10pm
but i'm still like top 10 earliest yay!
ya so while waiting went to ntuc at singpost
to buy uhh utensils and stuff
which everyone conveniently forgot.
oh money was provided by jonny :D
who v nicely threw me $100
to buy paper plates and cups and forks and spoons ho ho ho.
but of course everything goes back to frisbee fund.
so me lincoln shanrui and zhiyang
spared no mercy to jonny's $100 :D
chips, drinks, and all kinds of crap
were added in also haha :D
everything just charge to frisbee fund hahaha
alumni liao jiu like that la

yup so after everyone reach liao
went over to my house there.
and as usual, first-timers to my house
kept complaining abt the distance to my house.
WHICH IS REALLY NOT V FAR HELLO.

after passing by all the huge houses
cause my house is like so small,
but hahah i don't care :D

anw there were like 20+ ppl gathered in my house,
j3s (me and daryl only, sadly) j2s and j1s.
for some serious potluck which was like.
lots and lots and lots of chips and snacks and unhealthy food.
with e-hui's beehoon being the only uhh.
staple food or whatever you call it.

and since my home had no christmas tree this year
they insisted on making one
just to put the gifts underneath it.
so yeaaa we had a paper christmas tree la.
made by marcus and cynthia.
thankfully there was cynthia
so it didn't look as bad as initially feared. D:
at least it was standing..

today certainly didn't turn out as expected.
supposed to go watch rj comp
then go comms parade in the evening.
turned out when i went to hougang there
for the rj competition,
yangxuan overslept then couldn't come in time,
so uhhh like emergency replacement lo.
probably like if daryl came before me
they'd have asked him to play.
but i was earlier so they asked me first lo.
hahah i was like totally unprepared can.
borrowed e-hui's white shirt + marcus's socks.
boots i got cause i was supposed to lend marcus one
in case his broke halfway during the comp.

yeaaa but in a sense its like
value for money can.
$5 to play in this comp,
and i get free 100plus
free bubble tea free flow bananas
free flow newater towel and a shirt.
i really have no idea where rj got their money from.
they must be like freaking rich can.

anw ya tournament conditions were like crappy can
it rained for like the whole afternoon
so it was like slippery and really really muddy
and really really really freaking cold.
i was practically shivering my way through can D:
ya but in the end we lost the plate finals
(AND the $100 food voucher!) to rj j2s,
whom we met earlier on in the group stages.
drew 3-3 then, but this time finals no more draw,
so lost 5-4 on universal after trailing 3-0 at the start.
shit happens but aiiiiyah whatever la
haha at least rj are good opponents. (:

yup after everything was over,
went over to zhiyang's house to borrow his pants
and to uhh wash up and change a bit la.

today was great fun hahaha (:
morning went for ultimate training.
with the j1s and j2s at anchorvale there
cause today no hc field to use liao.

but sian like sai at first haha
cause started to drizzle quite heavily the moment we reached.
so like i just ended up playing barefooted for the first
i dunno half an hour or so.
but just throwing only la
the mimosas poke until really quite painful
but hahha as long as you throw really accurately
you won't have to move at all yay hahaha
then won't so annoying liao :D

yea but after a while sian liao.
cause j2s only got like 6 of them.
so we went to find the rj kids
who were there cause they were supposed
to play some skirmish with our j1s.
yea anw they were playing bball at the courts there
so we all just went to play with them la
hahah for fun la anw all frisbee also booring ma.
at first they don't wanna play with us one.
cause they say they very noob.
but then like after they saw us playing a while
they see us even more noob
then they suddenly can play with us liao.
haha but we still win them in the end la :D

yea anw play until tired liao
then we got down to like serious business
more frisbee haha.
played match with the j1s at first
6 j2s plus me against them.
yea basically they were just testing out new stuff
for their rj comp tmr lo.
but fun la the j2s are good play with them v natural. (:

ya then after play j1s until sian liao
went over to play with the rj ppl.
then rj played against our j1s
and we played against our j1s
then it was a rj vs mix hc team.
dunno just play lo nobody kept score.

ya anw played till abt 2 when everyone all shag liao.
then went back to compass point there
changed up and had lunch and talked cock
at our usual place around the mrt station there la.
then went over to sijie's house hahaa.

supposed to play mahjong one la,
but 11 ppl can't really play mahjong
so we ended up playing cards instead haha.

had to go la abt 6.30 like that.
celebrate my mum's birthday.

met my family at east coast there.
ate at some seafood restaurant la.

my parents didn't feel like eating crabs today
so all the crab eating was done by me and my 2 sisters wheee! :D
i probably looked kinda out of place though,
in my flip flops and shorts and artemis fac tee.
the next sloppily dressed guy was like. the valet.
guess i should've felt quite paiseh.
but aiyah not my fault la its so last min can.
i only knew when i was halfway through my lunch.
and anw to be truthful,
i. don't. really. care. ha. ha. ha.

sometimes i really like living at my area
cause its really accesible (by car).
its hell by any other means (i.e. public transport)

yay 21k down (:
wah haha its like achievement can
normally live run i can't run >2.4km
without stopping to slack.
this time i ran 21k w/o stopping :D
okay minus all the drink stations
and the 100plus stations.
and the deeo heat stations.
and the banana stations.
okay basically got whatever free stuff
sure will stop to take one hahaha :D

haha and all thanks to him la never stop.
else sure super sian one run by yourself.
talked for the first 10k
